character lore and stories

hello, I'm kam. I'm a small artist in the pacific northwest making vector art, stickers, etcthis page is for the details and stories of the reoccurring characters I have in my artwork

Dwayne (who is a rock)

The lore and story of Dwayne
• he is a sentient rock
• he has minor telepathic abilities which he uses to slightly tweak the perception of his outward appearance to those who observe him as well as to communicate as he is a rock and incapable of producing the vibrations needed for speech• he has no true mouth or other facial features but chooses to manifest his appearance as one with wandering eyes and a mustache as well as usually also either manifesting or wearing a top hat and bowtie as well as a flower vaguely where a lapel would be and holding a candy-cane as if it were a dapper gentleman’s cane, he does have other canes that are more typical, but he enjoys Christmas and the novelty of the candy-cane already being a miniature cane and closer to the correct proportion for him• he also has short range telekinetic abilities which he uses to hold and move things as well as himself, in theory he could just fly all the time but nearly always chooses to tie himself to the earth and the things upon it as he himself is of the earth and the ground and wishes to pay respect to it• his telekinesis is limited to only that which is within a foot of him in any direction though he is capable of sensing objects within about 30 feet and somehow is capable of viewing anything that would be line of sight despite his eyes theoretically only being aesthetic and non functional• he moves by either hopping forward/around or when he needs to move quickly or build up inertia he rolls like a big uneven bowling ball• his telepathy also allows him to sense people and animals though it’s range is a bit further at 50 feet and if he is not actively focusing on and communicating with or reading someone its more empathic and passive in nature where he simply is aware of the presence and vibes• he is capable of using his telepathic abilities to forcefully read someone’s mind but actively chooses not to outside of life and death situations as he views it as an egregious violation of privacy and personal freedoms and actively limits himself to outward projection of what he is trying to say and communicate when “talking” to people and relies on hearing them talk in response as well as sometimes actively reading emotions because he is really bad at understanding the nuances of tone and facial expressions• although he cannot create his own vibrations for sound he is capable of feeling them which allows him to hear people talking as well as having a decent track record in predicting earthquakes and other seismic events• the only exception to him being on or near the earth have been the times he had to crossover great bodies of water, during which he also usually manifests dainty little fairy wings because he thinks it’s funny to imply such tiny little things could feasibly carry such a large stone• the candy-cane he carries is generally a real one at the start of each outing but he enjoys sharing and is fond of giving the candy to his friends and their children, though it does get a little more awkward when more than one child is present and he didn’t plan ahead, when he knows there will be multiple people to share with he actually wears his top hat upside down and uses it as a little bucket to carry more• he was knighted after serving with the British military in WWI• though he was capable of using a handgun he preferred to use his own body as his his weapon jumping on enemies from above or rolling and hopping into them utilizing his great mass as a rock to crush and bludgeon, he also used his great mass at multiple points to act as an effectively immovable object blocking doors and preventing assailants entry giving time for his comrades to flee or come up with a plan for resistance• using his telekinesis he was able to resist and slow down incoming projectiles, he had to actively be paying attention and couldn’t really stop them outright but even when hit at full force the damage was minimal and it wasn’t too often he was shot at as during combat he would not manifest his usual eyes and mustache and would use his natural camouflage from being a literal rock to blend in to surroundings, a trait he also used at times to infiltrate enemy territory and collect intel through observation• he now acts as overseer of any and all masonry or other stone carving activity in and on UK historical sites, things like restoration, preservation, and authorized re-creations• he was originally a piece of Stonehenge that broke off and gained sentience when it was struck by lightning during an earthquake about 4000 years ago• he is effectively immortal as he is made of stone• he is inherently immune to all diseases as he is a rock and has at many points over the years acted as a go between during times of plague or quarantine to observe and communicate the situation to those in charge, as well as taking the time to pass messages and the last wishes between loved ones who were separated by these situations• though he does now own a home in London which he does stay in and use to entertain guests and friends he still returns to Stonehenge once every year or two to remind himself of where he came from and to meditate on his existence as a rock, removing that which he has worn or manifested to simply exist as a stone in nature and feel the world around him and all that he is connected to as a part of it, he also sometimes meditates as a stone in what little nature there is to find around London but is usually distracted or pulled away wether by friends or by duties, he realizes he doesn’t need to go all the way to Stonehenge in order to find some isolation, but it’s where he’s from and finds it’s familiarity comforting• he does not eat and does not drink but does still engage with english culture in regards to tea, he always has it on hand when entertaining guests and usually accepts a glass when with peers, though when he raises his glass he is not actually drinking but rather bringing the tea to the edge where it can just begin to touch his surface, he does slightly find the sensation of the warm liquid amusing, but really it’s about the friendship and community and being a part of his culture, taking time to be with people and just slow down and relax, because to him as someone who’s lived for around 4000 years he appreciates what it means to slow down and simply exist even if it’s just for a few moments• he’s not really loyal to England or the UK as far as the governments and other authorities, but rather to the land and the people there-in, though he does hold a government position it is mainly because of the responsibility to look over historical sights and the stonework within• he is a firm believer in equality, equal implementation of justice, and respect for human rights such as free speech and exchange of ideas, privacy, self defense, personal autonomy and individual expression and ownership, and though he is not in a position of actionable power he consistently speaks out against tyranny and at least tries to influence those who do have authority to have respect for those they control

Reginald (reggie)

The lore and story of Reginald
• he is an anachronistic being who travels both through time and alternate dimensions occasionally collecting artifacts or tools of interest to him often by salvaging them or finding them when left seemingly abandoned
• he is a human• his travels have exposed him to countless technologies and cultures, which he has learned from and utilized resulting in him effectively having an encyclopedic knowledge of any topic and being able to fine tune his time and dimensional travel with near pinpoint precision and intentionality• on his travels he salvaged a set of mjolnir mark VI armor from the spartan II program which he liked the general aesthetics of so he modified it to not require any major life altering surgeries to use as well as painting it a shade of blue and affixing a fake mustache to reflect his own mustache that he was incredibly proud of• he also obtained the master sword after traveling into one of the realm of hyrule’s branched timelines at a point in time where there was no calamity and the sword was left unattended in the woods, at the time he knew nothing of the blade’s importance and basically just thought “ooh, neat” before grabbing it not even noticing the protective magics in place to keep any but a descendant of the hero’s lineage from claiming it in a time of need because over his travels he had encountered so many forms of magic and ways of countering it that no magic was capable of affecting anything near him regardless of it’s potency because he had effectively every single counter-spell of thousands of different magical realms active on himself 24/7 and only healing magic was allowed through• on his wrist he wears a pipboy which he has modified to tap into trans-dimensional energies and never require additional power as well as using his own self invented data drive giving it enough storage for him to take notes and run analysis on anything and everything he encounters, very little of the original internals actually remain, he really just needed a portable computer and preferred it’s form-factor and the fact that it was attached to his arm making it impossible to set down and forget somewhere like a phone or laptop, he basically gutted everything but the screen and installed his own sensors, processors, and storage• using the countless technologies and magics he’s encountered he’s rendered himself immune to all forms of disease or attack and no longer ages with unlimited neural plasticity, the only way to kill him is if he eventually gets bored or goes insane and decides he’s lived enough• he spends his time traveling around and observing oddities in the multiverse, what things make particular realms unique, only observing and not interacting if a realm or culture or planet has not yet reached the industrial age, if he considers them “intelligent enough” he may go in the style of the time and socialize for a bit and engage with the people, maybe dropping a hint here and there to help them progress• he keeps a catalog of all other immortal beings he’s encountered as well as those of comparable intellect or comprehension, one of these immortals as well as one of the unique oddities he’s cataloged would be Dwayne, because although he’s encountered beings of stone or similar, Dwayne is the only one native to earth who’s body is literally just a stone and has fully integrated with society without having formerly been a human and retaining a vaguely humanoid form, as well as Dwayne’s inexplicable telekinetic and telepathic abilities, Reginald can detect them and can pinpoint that they are from Dwayne, but every single possible composition scan only registers Dwayne as a solid stone with no internal oddities that could possibly be source of energy or consciousness, Dwayne explained his origin of being struck by lightning during an earthquake breaking him off of Stonehenge, but this only confused Reginald even more, because there was no possible way that could have resulted in Dwayne coming to life, let alone him having special abilities, it defied all possible logic of anything else in this reality, this wasn’t a dimension with magic, it wasn’t one with mutants, it wasn’t one with nature spirits, by every other possible metric this earth was a mundane and typical realm that adhered to the standard laws of physics, and yet for some reason here was a literal rock that wore a top-hat and could fly, Reginald's exact words on the matter were as follows; “what in the actual fuck? why can you talk? what the fuck are you? Why do you have tea? How the fuck did you get employed by the government? Yes I would like some tea, it’s delicious, but how in the hell do you exist?”, in response to this Dwayne used his telekinesis to raise his teapot with choo-choo trains painted on it and his candy-cane in a shrug while using his telepathy to say “I don’t fucking know” before pouring Reginald a glass of black tea• Reginald was a soldier in WWII before working as a scientist with the continued exploration of nuclear weapons and energy after the strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and used the knowledge gained from there to build an at home reactor which he used to power his own experimentation and research, eventually resulting in the accidental creation of an inter-dimensional rift after he had tried concentrating the full power of his reactor onto a single point in an attempt to see if it would pop a kernel of popcorn or if it would just catch on fire, it did both, popping and then catching on fire in the span of a second, but then after that the energy contained and continuing to dump into his testing chamber saturated the space and when he turned it off the sudden drop resulted in pulling energy from the space to compensate and in the rush a tear was formed, a small one, but big enough to see through, and what he saw made no sense to him for it looked like stars but should have been his basement, he had found was the space between spaces, the realm between realms, but just as the sudden flow of energy had opened it from a lack of equilibrium, the energy in the basement flowed back and closed the rift as it settled, from there Reginald experimented more and discovered ways of keeping the rift open for longer and of making it larger, large enough that he could theoretically enter it, but seeing it as a world of stars made him hesitant, for he had no way of knowing if he would be able to breath, as by this point NASA had been formed and was well aware of the lack of oxygen beyond out atmosphere and the need of protective suits, with this in mind, without explaining his reasons he went to a former colleague from his nuclear research team who had gone to work for NASA and requested one of the older spacesuits that had proven functional but was no longer in use, and with this he took his first steps between realms with a tether keeping him connected to his reality as he looked and realized what he had seen weren’t stars but rather glowing spirals, and they were far closer together than he had thought, seeming to move and flow around each-other on some unknown current, as he looked and wondered in amazement he failed to realize the time his equipment could support the rift was ending, and when it did closing upon the tether he had used it crushed and ultimately severed it resulting in a small shockwave that sent Reginald hurling outward towards an adjacent spiral, through which he was rather forcefully shoved into an almost identical version of his basement, except there was none of the usual lab equipment pulled out and none of the rigging he had set up to hold his rift generators, and at the workbench was a practically identical man standing over a microscope, he had stumbled into another reality, with another Reginald, one who decided to use the reactor for free electricity and was experimenting with microbiology and how it reacted to radiation instead of further experiments with channeling and creating energy, upon seeing an apparent astronaut in their basement this alternate reginald turned towards him and very justifiably asked what the fuck he was doing there and how he got there, reginald prime proceeded to take off his helmet and the sight of an identical man in a spacesuit resulted in the alternate reginald fainting, at which point reginald prime sat down, his arms crossed waiting for his alternate self to awaken, at which point he proceeded to explain that he had been experimenting and theorizing that the rift he thought may have taken him into space actually sent him between dimensions, after which the alternate reginald wanted to help reginald prime and acted as an assistant as over the next month they worked on recreating the rift generation equipment which reginald prime was able to use and return home, it seemed to him that similar realities remained near by each other and he could possibly use that detail to navigate, but first things first he had to catch up on a month of business and see about making a portable method of rift generation, which he was able to do with a rather hefty backpack device that fed into a handheld energy projector, this combined with collapsable frames to channel the energy into formed his first rudimentary method of two way interdimensional travel, there was the issue of not being able to take the frames with him, so every so often he had to return home or to an acceptable lab to create more, but eventually he was able to minimize things and develop methods that could work with any reasonably sized alcove

I will be adding in more of my characters and revising details

and possibly making a comic
